The Referendum – Statement From The Waminda Executive Leadership Team

10/11/2023
Waminda acknowledge and respect those who have been advocating for the Uluru Statement from the Heart. We understand the need to mourn and grieve – take that time.

Waminda has absorbed the pain and anger, disbelief and shocking impact of the Racist No Vote campaign that prevailed on Saturday the 14th of October 2023. Waminda is determined more than ever to continue the path we have been leading on – long before this referendum was thought of.

Waminda, our grass-roots Aboriginal Women’s Community Controlled organisation, has remained open to our staff and Community. We open to support our people to come have a yarn, we open to come together in solidarity with our mobs and allies to get up, stand up and show up together; with the fire in our bellies aching to be felt in our Communities.

To our allies who walk alongside us; Now is not the time to back down, now is the time to stand beside us stronger than ever.

We stand strong for our Elders, our Ancestors, our Truth Telling. We will not back down, we will be heard, with or without being enshrined in a colonial genocidal Law.

We will continue for our mob, for ourselves and our children.

Take care mob, we are here.
