Position Description

Endorsed Midwife

Full Time Position – 35 Hours Per Week

Calling all Endorsed Midwifes looking to work in Waminda Birthing
on Country Program! If you value being nurtured whilst nurturing
others, enjoy a healthy work life balance and working within a model
of care that centres the woman and Aboriginal families then this
role is for you.

 

Waminda’s Birthing on Country program is seeking an Endorsed
Midwife to join the Minga Gudjaga Midwifery Group Practice team to
provide continuity of midwifery care, including in hospital labour
and birth primary midwifery care then postpartum care within the
woman’s home for up to six weeks.

You will join a dynamic and highly skilled midwifery, child and
family health team and will work in a midwifery buddy system, with 2
allocated days off per week. Waminda supports the wellbeing of its
staff through the Staff Wellbeing Framework and encourages personal
and professional development.

Salary is in accordance with the Nurses Award – Level 2.

General Practitioner 

Full-time and part-time positions available 

Waminda is located in Nowra, on the beautiful south coast of New South Wales and has been servicing the South Coast Aboriginal Community for 40 years. We have a unique model of care that empowers our Aboriginal women and their families to take lead in their health journey with culture as the core foundation. We are the only Aboriginal Community Control Health Organisation (ACCHO) in Australia with a shared leadership structure led by Aboriginal Women from our local Community.  

An easy 2-hour drive from Sydney CBD and Sydney International airport. A coastal life with delicious eateries and cafes including our very own award winning Blak Cede Cafe, stunning beaches and magical bush walks located nearby, and fun filled parks fit for families.  

As a Waminda General Practitioner you will provide culturally safe, comprehensive holistic care tailored to the individual needs of clients, with easy access to internal Allied Health services to support the overall well-being of our Women and their families. We are seeking applicants with experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, dedicated to supporting and empowering Aboriginal women and their families to make informed health decisions.  

You will work in collaboration with our Primary Health Care team of Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Midwives to provide client centred care, aligning with Waminda’s model of care, centring Aboriginal Women and their families. With multiple outreach sites, you will have the opportunity to work in various locations on the South Coast from the Illawarra, down to Ulladulla. 

We are equally committed to the well-being of our staff through the implementation of our Staff Wellbeing Framework, which aims to provide ongoing support in health and well-being for our staff with allocated well- being time, scheduled external supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities. 

We are excited to expand our team to meet our growing community and to support our Primary Health Care programs, including the upcoming Gudjaga Gunyahlamia Birthing and Community Centre, which will implement our full birthing on country model of care, with an anticipated completion of build in mid 2026.

Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our Waminda family. Candidate must have a current registration as a Nurse Practitioner and possess a diverse skill set suitable for working within a general practise environment.

Case Worker

Full Time Position – 35 Hours Per Week 

 

As a Case Worker you will join our Nabu team, Waminda’s Family Preservation and Restoration program which supports families who are involved with or at risk of becoming involved with the child protection system. You will provide a strengths based, whole of family approach to case plan coordination by strengthening the skills, knowledges and experience of parents and carers to provide safe and enriching environments for their children and family. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the individual and family needs are met. 

 

Salary is accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (SCHADS) Level 4.

Our practice has an appointment booking system for all consultations, we can accommodate walk in consultations with the clinical team, but it is encouraged to make a booked appointment. On arrival you will be triaged by an Aboriginal health worker prior to seeing the Doctor. If you are unable to attend face to face due to symptoms, we have the option of a telehealth appointment.
