Waranj Dhurawaraga 

Our vision is to support the choice and control of Aboriginal women and their families by offering high quality, responsive, culturally based supports and services to women and their Aboriginal children with disability in the Shoalhaven and Illawarra.

Waranj Dhurawaraga works closely with our Balaang Gunyah team, supporting women on their healing journey and facilitating opportunities for women to step into their family, community and cultural roles. Waranj Dhurawaraga provides practical supports for people with disability, including short term accommodation (respite), transport and support to access community, support with in home daily living activities, as well as assistance to participate in social and community activities and events.

Our NDIS Services Include

Support Coordination

Support individuals to understand how they can use their NDIS funding and how to access the right services for them.

Short term accommodation

Waminda offers stays of up to two weeks at a time for women with our short-term accommodation program at Balaang Gunyah.

In Home Supports

In home supports may include support with cleaning and maintaining individual’s homes lawn mowing and yard work, and support with preparation of meals.

Life skills mentoring

Support to increase individuals independence with daily living activities in the home or out in community.

Assistance to Access Community

Waminda staff can provide transport and support for individuals to access and participate in community and social activities.

Counselling

Waminda offers counselling support from our Healing Counsellors based at Nabu.

Personal Training

Based at Waminda’s Dead or Deadly program at Yila Murnawar Gunyah.

Am I Eligible?

Eligibility Checklist

Are you aged under 65?

Do you live in Australia and have Australian residency?

Do you usually need support from a person because of a permanent and significant disability?

Do you use special equipment because of a permanent and significant disability?

Do you need some supports now to reduce your future needs?

If you answered yes to these questions, come have a yarn with us about whether you meet the eligibility criteria for the NDIS.

How Do I Apply For The NDIS?

You can apply by contacting the NDIA (the agency who administers the NDIS) directly

I Have Been Accepted Into The NDIS, What Next?

The NDIA will send a letter confirming your acceptance and make contact with you to set a date for a planning meeting. This is where you can talk about your goals, and the supports that you would like funded through the NDIS.  

Our NDIS team at Waminda can support you through the planning process.

At the end of the planning process, you will receive an ‘NDIS Plan’, setting out what the NDIA have agreed to fund.

Our practice has an appointment booking system for all consultations, we can accommodate walk in consultations with the clinical team, but it is encouraged to make a booked appointment. On arrival you will be triaged by an Aboriginal health worker prior to seeing the Doctor. If you are unable to attend face to face due to symptoms, we have the option of a telehealth appointment.
